My Industrial Training Experience: From Code to Confidence
Industrial Training (IT) is one of those academic phases that seem distant until you’re suddenly in the middle of it. Waking up early, commuting, and applying everything you’ve learned (and some things you haven’t) in real-world situations. For me, this journey began with placement at Hamplus Hub, a tech space filled with vibrant minds and real-world challenges.
Getting In: A Rocky Start
Getting into Hamplus Hub wasn’t easy. There were some issues from my school regarding approval of the hub, which delayed my start date. I was honestly anxious at first; watching others begin their IT while mine was still pending made me feel like I was falling behind. But once everything was cleared, I was grateful to finally step into the space and get started.
Despite the delay, I made sure to make the most of every session.
A Layered Learning Journey
We began our training with Data Analysis, where I learned the importance of working with spreadsheets, understanding datasets, and drawing insights. An essential skill for anyone in tech, regardless of their specialization.
From there, we moved into Graphics Design. This was where I started exploring tools like Adobe Photoshop and Canvas, understanding design principles like alignment, contrast, typography, and color usage.

Then came UI/UX Design, where I was introduced to wireframing, user-centered thinking, and prototyping. It taught me that building something users love isn’t just about code it’s about experience.
Before diving into web development, we even had a short but fun experience with animation. It opened up a new creative angle and helped me think more dynamically about movement and interactivity in design.

Settling into Web Development
Finally, we entered Web Development and this is where everything came together. I started building projects using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, including a simple but functional registration form that featured:
- Input validation using regular expressions (pattern)
- Password visibility toggle with an eye icon
- Birth year validation restricted to 1991–2010

It was during this phase that my confidence started to grow. I was no longer just learning ; I was doing. I even built a gender-separated table using JavaScript, where the data of 20 people was stored in an object and dynamically displayed based on gender.
Beyond Code: Growth in Soft Skills
Technical skills aside, I gained so much more:
- Consistency: showing up every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9 AM to 2 PM
- Time management: balancing personal projects with internship work
- Team communication: learning to ask for help, give updates, and receive feedback
- Reflection: keeping track of what I learned in my logbook each week
Creativity + Tech = Me
Outside the hub, I continued to express myself creatively. My brand “Nailegance” became my side project. I practiced creating animations in Scratch to promote the brand, explored branding, and merged beauty with tech in a way that truly reflects who I am.

Challenges That Shaped Me
There were moments of doubt, confusion, and even frustration. But those were the moments that taught me how to research better, debug smarter, and never be afraid to start again. Google and ChatGPT became my best friends and so did late-night trial-and-error sessions.
Final Thoughts
From data to design, animation to actual coding, this training exposed me to the different flavors of tech. What started out rocky ended up shaping my path in a more intentional and confident way.
To anyone about to begin their IT journey: take it seriously, but also enjoy the process. Ask questions, try everything, and don’t limit yourself. You’ll be surprised how much you grow when you stay curious.
