DELSU Tech Invasion (DTI) 3.0 (held on 10th and 11th December, 2025) was another impactful gathering aimed at equipping students with relevant tech knowledge, practical skills, and exposure to real-world opportunities within and beyond the technology ecosystem. The event brought together students, speakers, and facilitators in an atmosphere focused on learning, networking, and growth.

Day One: Knowledge Sharing and Inspiration

Delsu Tech Invasion Day One officially commenced at 12:20pm with the registration and confirmation of participants. The opening address was delivered by Abigail Opadotun, who welcomed attendees and set the tone for the event. This was followed by a keynote address from the Deputy Director of ICT, representing the Director of ICT, who spoke on the importance of technology in education and encouraged students to take advantage of digital opportunities.

The theme of the event was “ THINK. CODE. TRANSFORM.”, with a sub-theme titled “Python as Your Superpower.” The sessions that followed reflected this theme, as speakers shared insights drawn from their experiences across different areas of tech and personal development.

Mr. Emmanuel Justice (Genesis) delivered a session titled Beyond Excel, where he explained how Excel works with Python and how Python can be used to extend productivity and automation beyond basic spreadsheet usage.

Mr. Jeremiah Omonefe spoke on Making Money in Tech: Beyond Coding, focusing on freelancing and alternative ways of earning within the tech space.

The day also featured interactive activities such as the Fastest Fingers game, where winners from the first and second rounds received cash prizes, and one participant went home with a brand-new laptop (against the three given out in DTI 2.0., due to lack of fund, sponsorship and partnership). A selfie-posting challenge was also held, with participants tagging specific hashtags; those with the highest views and likes received gifts, including branded T-shirts. The day concluded with refreshments, networking, and a cake-cutting session to mark the anniversary highlight.

Day Two: Networking and Hands-On Learning

Delsu Tech Invasion Day Two began with a networking session, allowing participants to connect with like-minded individuals, exchange ideas, and build meaningful relationships.

Following the networking session, participants moved into a hands-on Python training facilitated by Mr Oba. The session focused on teaching Python from the basics, with clear explanations and practical examples that helped participants understand how Python works from scratch. The interactive nature of the session made learning engaging and accessible to both beginners and those with prior experience.

As the day came to an end, participants left with new connections, practical Python skills, and valuable takeaways.

DELSU Tech Invasion 3.0 builds on the momentum of other impactful programs such as the Django Summit DELSU, a five-day hands-on training where participants built real-world projects including Attendance Management, Stock Inventory, and Sales Management systems.

It also aligns with the objectives of the Django Girls Abraka workshop, a two-day program focused on introducing women to web development using HTML, Python, and Django, while fostering inclusion and confidence in tech.

Together, these initiatives reflect a continuous effort to strengthen the DELSU tech community through practical learning and collaboration.

Smart DELSU Hack: A Call for Sponsors

One of the major initiatives planned under DELSU Tech Invasion was the Smart DELSU Hack, a hackathon designed to challenge students to develop innovative solutions to real problems within the university environment. Unfortunately, the hackathon could not be held this year due to sponsorship constraints and has been postponed to next year.

As preparations continue, there is an open call to individuals, organizations, and corporate bodies who are passionate about innovation, youth development, and technology to partner as sponsors. With adequate support, the Smart DELSU Hack has the potential to unlock creativity, nurture talent, and drive meaningful solutions within the DELSU community.

DELSU Tech Invasion 3.0 once again demonstrated the importance of practical learning, community engagement, and continuous growth in technology. Through knowledge-sharing sessions, hands-on training, networking opportunities, and collaborative initiatives, participants were empowered with skills and confidence to take the next steps in their tech journeys. The journey continues, and with stronger partnerships and sponsorship, even greater impact lies ahead.
